Cognitive Biases

Cognitive biases are systematic, predictable ways our thinking goes off-track when making judgments or decisions, often because our brains rely on mental shortcuts (called heuristics) to save time and effort instead of carefully weighing every fact. These shortcuts usually work fine in everyday life, but they can lead us to misjudge risks, remember events inaccurately, or favor information that confirms what we already believe. Studying cognitive biases helps us notice these blind spots in ourselves and others, so we can make more careful decisions when it matters.
