Genetics

Genetics is the study of how traits—like eye color, height, or susceptibility to certain diseases—are passed from parents to offspring. This happens through genes, which are segments of DNA (the molecule that carries hereditary instructions) located on structures called chromosomes inside our cells. By studying genetics, scientists can understand why living things resemble their parents, how variation arises within species, and how certain conditions run in families.
